Brooklands Bowling Club is very active both in competitive bowls and social arenas. We are part of a Community Amateur Sports Club and we have achieved Trafford Clubmark, certifying that the club complies with all relevant standards including diversity and equality of members, health and safety, coaching and child protection.
Our membership is completely open to anyone in the community. Once the membership fees are paid, there are no further match fees. We currently have around 60 members and we welcome people of all ages to play. For beginners or anyone wanting to improve their game, we have two fully qualified coaches.
We play in 5 different local bowling leagues, as follows:
- Altrincham LV League, playing on Monday and Friday evenings
- Sale Ladies League, playing home matches on Tuesday afternoons
- Sale and Urmston League, playing on Wednesday evenings
- Altrincham LV Veterans League (for over 55s), playing on Thursday afternoons
- Trafford Evening League playing on Thursday evenings
- All leagues are open to both male and female members apart from the Sale Ladies League.
- There are club competitions at regular intervals throughout the season (mid-March to end of September).
On the social side, we have the following events:
- Monthly social bowls “Round Robins” on Sunday afternoons which are open to all, including non-members
- An away day to a green in the surrounding area, including lunch and refreshments
- A celebration evening including presentation of club trophies
